When looking at different quotes, it is important to ask questions. Here are some commonly asked questions that you may want to ask. Can I cancel my insurance policy at anytime? Yes. You can cancel coverage at anytime. However, some companies have an "early termination fee". It is to your benefit to ask this question so that you know if you are expected to pay any additional fees. Ask you agent; this person should be able to answer this question. Who is covered under my auto policy while driving my vehicle? Are your children, spouse, or friends covered?? It may vary depending on what state and company you decide to be insured by. Ask you agent; this person should be able to answer this question. If I buy a new car will my insurance apply? Most companies offer a small window of time (usually 30 days) where your coverage will automatically cover a new car or driver. However, it is important to call your agent and find out if they offer a window of time and if so how long. Also, it is recommended that you do not rely on this small window, instead plan ahead, and call your agent to have them update the policy before you purchase a new car. You will need to know who is covered under your policy while driving other cars. In general, as long as you have permission to drive another persons vehicle it is ok. Generally, a multi-line discount is given for insuring your car and home together through the same company. Not all companies do this, however most do. Ask you agent; this person should be able to answer this question. "Physical Damage Coverage" - what does this do? Physical damage refers to collision and comprehensive coverage's. These coverage's cover your vehicle if a loss should occur. You select a deductible (amount of risk you will take) and then the rest (up to policy limits or Actual Cash Value) is covered by the insurance company.
